FurzlyWhy Write For Us

A Letter From Our CCO

Hello Dear Visitor!

If you’ve found your way to this page, chances are that you are considering writing a piece for Furzly, which is very exciting! If this is the case, however, you most likely have a lot of questions about how this process works as well, and you may want to know why you should consider writing something for us in the first place.

In order to truly translate the value of this opportunity, let me introduce myself.

My name is Dylan Buckley, and I’m the Chief Content Officer (CCO) here at Furzly.

Before I was able to land this position and take the helm as the captain of content marketing here at this company, however, I was just a normal freelance writer and editor.

To put it simply, freelance writing (and writing in general) is difficult enough, but starting out is often the most difficult part of the process. Without any published content or relevant experience, most content companies and potential clients will turn you away for someone with more experience (or at least someone with the ability to stick their foot in the door and get the attention they need to go further).

Although you’re going to hear that you can make it with a couple of sample articles in hand, the truth is that you are going to fare much better with published pieces that you can provide to potential clients or employers.

  1. Having live links shows employers that you are capable of successfully pitching an article and getting it published.
  2. Published articles tell clients and employers that you can follow directions, which is an essential skill in any writing position.
  3. It gives hiring managers and individuals the opportunity to see your writing style, tone, and capabilities.

However, it’s not just about live links, It’s about the quality of the content and the website that it is home to. If I write a 300-word piece on how much I love turkey dinners on a website that is poorly set up, it is doubtful that anyone is going to look my way. If I have a 1,000-word article on dog health properly formatted on a great-looking website, people are going to pay attention to my work.

Furzly provides you with a professional online portfolio that hosts all of your written content, your headshot, and a byline that tells potential writing clients and employers who you are as a writer and beyond. If I had had this opportunity when I was first starting out, I would have been able to land paying clients much earlier than I did. I wouldn’t have had to look for free writing opportunities, pitch to websites that wouldn’t have me yet, or constantly worry about how I was going to get credit for my work.

I could have just gotten started.

If you’re looking to build your portfolio and sidestep all of the challenges that come with becoming a writer, you can do it here at Furzly.

So, why write for Furzly?

Simple. You’re not going to find an opportunity like this anywhere else!

Dylan Buckley,
Chief Content Officer

I am interested in becoming a content writer for Furzly. I am currently a content writer, blogger, and editor for an SEO marketing company, before that I was Senior Editor of Florida Design Magazine. I currently have three cats and have had dogs in the past. Please let me know if you are looking to add an experienced storyteller to your team. Best regards, Susan Sherman.
